Timo Sohl
Hello and welcome to my website!
I am a Ramón y Cajal Research Professor (Investigador RyC) and permanent faculty member at the UPF Barcelona School of Management at Pompeu Fabra University. I am currently also a visiting researcher at Deutsche Bundesbank. I hold a Ph.D. in Management from the University of St. Gallen and graduated in Economics from the University of Heidelberg. Before joining UPF, I was a postdoctoral researcher at IESE Business School and a visiting researcher at Texas A&M University.
My research focuses on corporate strategy and examines decisions around a firm’s boundaries and profile of business lines, with particular interest in firm scope and resource allocation decisions following external shocks. My work has been published or is forthcoming in leading academic journals, such as Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. My teaching includes courses in strategy and business economics at the MBA level.
Prior to my academic career, I gained some practical experience at multinationals such as SAP and BOSCH in Germany and China.
